March 8th, 2014 – was the day we officially began the adoption process. We knew this was what we were to do. However, we were numb just thinking of the amount of money it was going to take to finish strong. “Lord you, asked us to move, we’ve moved – now show us your plan, because it’s scary from where we stand.”
Hard to believe it’s been a year and a couple weeks since we began the adoption process. As I sit here writing a quick note amongst a small pile of suitcases and a messy living room – I just want to share this…
Don’t ever, ever put God in a box! He’s bigger, he’s stronger and mightier than your fears.
To think money was the ‘only’ thing keeping us from adopting – we were putting God in a box. Yes, $30,000 would make almost any average person cringe at the thought. Our stomachs were sick at the thought. But God is bigger than that, and he’d already gotten that taken care of – our job was to only TRUST and WALK by FAITH. Easier said than done. But not impossible. 
The Lord had tugged so often on our hearts about adoption through the years – and to think we squashed several years away from an amazing blessing and beautiful picture of the gospel of Christ years ago. Maybe He knew we weren’t ready, maybe we really did lose out on the blessing of adoption earlier on? And to think it was caused by our pathetic human fears. We thought we were trusting the Lord – but really we were holding on to more than we were letting go. That’s not trusting. That’s called: deciding what’s HIS and what’s MINE.
Trusting the Lord means more than talk, it means more than partial giving – it means opening clenched hands and raising them high saying – “Lord, you can have everything I’ve got, everything I hold dear, because it’s really not mine anyway! Take it Lord. Everything I’ve got. Use me.”
SO, Tomorrow is the day!!! Tomorrow we fly to China!!! And the 30th we’ll have our little girl in our arms!!!
Just one day away from leaving… the Lord has shown himself ever so faithful to us yet again! Today, our adoption expenses are officially 100% funded!!!
So I must ask you this: what fears are holding you back from letting God have your full attention and willingness to do the most outlandish, bizarre to the world opportunities to bring glory to HIM? What small tiny behind the scenes thing is God been asking you to do? What has he been prompting your heart to say, to go, or to do?
You’ve ‘watched’, read, gave, and have prayed through God’s adoption story of our little girl. You’ve had a peak into some ups and some downs of serving the Lord, and we pray if it does one thing – we pray that it brings you closer to HIM, and leaves you with a passion burning for whatever the Lord has for you, with everything you’ve got. Complete wholeheartedness. Because it’s not about us at all, it’s about HIM. It’s all about HIM.
Time to open the box – and watch God work!
