perfect peace and rest

On the news I hear of a war raging in the middle east. There’s been an abduction of two sweet little girls – {still yet to be found}, the other day a large shooting rampage in a movie theater – {many lives lost}, and very close to home there are several suffering severe life threatening illnesses & injuries, and my heart is aching for the hearts of loved ones walking down a path of destruction, and currently our land is in desperate need of rain…how can ones heart be truly at peace in a world that has very little peace?
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
 
After feeling the discouragement from the world, I am reminded in God’s word that JESUS, is on His throne at this very moment. He SEES ALL, and KNOWS ALL. My little heart is only commanded to simply TRUST HIM & OBEY HIM. In doing so, I have an unexplainable peace in my life, and I am comforted in knowing I have no need for worry or fear.

Do not be anxious for anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses ALL understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.  Philippians 4:6-7

Having faith in the God of Peace enables us to live calmly and confidently all the days of our life. Having hope in our God, who is full of peace, enables us to keep looking up and ahead to the day when we dwell with Him in His eternal, peaceful home.  Jim Dyer
